Stomped to death by an angry elephant, or drowning in the open seas from flipped boat. How about death by excruciating box jellyfish stings or maybe you would prefer the more gentle way to die, poisoned by the residue of insecticide from bed bug fumigation. Go for a scooter ride and walk under a coconut tree, it could be your last. Don't forget the little flying things that will sneak disease straight into your bloodstream. These are just some of the dangers in this land, AND WE ARE TAKING OUR THREE PRECIOUS DAUGHTERS - what the begebbies were we thinking! As the holiday approaches, my overthinking mummy brain goes into overdrive and I spend hours researching the pitfalls of Thailand. I tell the kids that they will be far safer if they swim with ladies stockings on their limbs, so the stingers can’t sting them - kids aren’t impressed. Enter calm, level headed husband, he defuses my flapping and wild eyed ramblings with a “it’s all good mate, we’ll be alright.’’
Here we are one week in - and we are alright. Actually better than that. It’s been amazing! We found a stunning white sand clear water beach that we have nicknamed ‘our beach’, the food here is extraordinary - so tasty and the fruit is fantastic. We have shed our stress and are living that wonderful pace of life that is a little bit slower and a little more appreciative. Having time to spend with the family and share our new experiences together is a wonderful way to store rich memories away to regurgitate later.
